Power

POWER In August 1945 a B-29 bomber named "Enola Gay" dropped the first of only two atomic bombs to be detonated in anger. The subsequent nuclear reaction set off an explosion the like of which man had up to that moment only imagined and feared could happen. At the center of the detonation the temperature reached 200 million degrees Fahrenheit. The fire created by this heat flashed through the streets of Hiroshima like a hellish freight train. People were instantaneously incinerated. The outlines of these people were burned into the sides of stone buildings. These victims came to be known as "the shadow people" because it looked as though their shadows were frozen on the buildings. But in reality these "shadows" were the incinerated remains of men, women, and children caught by the blast.

POWER Man had never seen power of this nature. To this day the term "atomic bomb" is used to describe a scene of mass destruction whether it be from a tornado, hurricane, or earthquake.

POWER Man has worked to harness and unleash various sources of energy to provide power to run all types of machinery. Whose function it is to facilitate transportation, manufacturing, and communication. Unfortunately man has not been able to design a machine or device which would be able to have the ability to keep him from lying, hating, envying, cheating. Regardless of the origin of the power source we cannot find a tool, implement, or software program that could help us overcome anxiety or depression. Mankind is also on the verge of developing ways to use energy sources that have heretofore remained unused. Why? He does it in order to supply his ever growing craving to make life "easier."

POWER There is a power. A dynamism. An energy we can possess on a personal and intimate level that is also very often remained unused. Jesus said: "ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." Acts 1:8 You can know this power. You can appropriate this power. You can experience this power.

POWER A different kind of power. Our perception of power is usually defined by the idea that power is expensive. Power is destructive. Power gives us an advantage. Power is something that helps you run faster. It gives you the ability to throw a ball farther. Jump higher. We also associate power with the ability to have influence over others. However the power Jesus speaks of is much more influential and efficacious. The power of the Holy Ghost will help us over come our innermost fears and anxieties. It will help us have the power to overcome self-destructive habits. To bring down those thought patterns that cause us to settle for a life whose days are filled with entertainment and distractions. Anything other than having to deal with reality. Reality is a hard taskmaster. Through the promise of the Holy Ghost we can have a life of peace. As well one of overcoming power.
