Salvation

All have been marred by sin. [Romans 3:23.]  We have been separated from fellowship with God by the presence of ungodliness. Jesus Christ came to bridge the gap caused by sin [II Corinthians 5:19].

The New Testament tells us salvation is realized through faith in Jesus Christ. He is the only Savior according to scripture. [Matthew 1:21-23, Acts 5:31, Acts 4:12, Jude1:25.]  We believe in a salvation experience that is able to be effective in every area of our lives. This salvation experience is activated by being born again [John 3:3-7].

The scripture directs us to some basic elements needed to have this experience. First we must be willing to confess our ungodliness and seek repentance. Repentance steps beyond confession. It is a turning away from sin and ungodliness while desiring to stop doing whatever it is that has been repented of. The next element is baptism by immersion in water. Water baptism [for further explanation see section on baptism] with the name of Jesus being called over you. Acts 2:38 The baptism of the Holy Spirit is one of the most wonderful experiences. The second chapter of the book of Acts describes how God manifested this gift to mankind. The beginning of this chapter tells how the Holy Spirit came into the room and then filled those in the room. Each soul was confirmed as being baptized with the sign of speaking in other tongues through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation is granted to us through the grace of God. Upon receiving the wonderful life changing new birth salvation continues as we grow in the knowledge of His Word while we learn to continually place our faith in Jesus our Lord and Savior.
